WHO'S THAT GAIA?
I’m an illustrator based in northern Italy but I work mostly for the French and British publishing markets. After graduating from IED Institute of Art & Design I specialized in wildlife art and for several years I collaborated with magazines and field guides. After being selected for the Illustrators Exhibition at Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 1998, my creative journey took a different turn and I’ve illustrated numerous children's books ever since.
Looking through my portfolio you’ll see that I like to use different mediums and slightly different styles. Trying new approaches to drawing is very important to me and it has been a key ingredient to remaining interested and passionate about what I do. From 2013 to 2017 I worked alongside the Flying Eye Books team on The Amazing Animal Atlas rediscovering the passion for zoology and wildlife art of my early illustration years. Recently I've also been writing my own stories. 'La Foret des Lanternes', my first book as an author/illustrator, was published in France by Milan Editions in 2018.
Forever divided between the fantastic storytelling of children’s fiction and the beauty of the natural world, I’m available for both kidlit projects and non-fiction science books.
